{{Policy TOC}} {{Help TOC}} The Fallout Studios Data Bunker (FSDB) is the Wiki for the [[Fallout Studios]] community, which is a game [[modding]] and [[Game development|development]] community with an especially large [[Command & Conquer series|Command & Conquer]] fanbase. This wiki is an attempt to collect all kinds of information. ==Goals of this wiki== ====Describing Fallout Studios==== This wiki is first and foremost a wiki about us. It describes us as a community, who we are and what we do. It provides not only information about our site, various forums and our members, but also what has happened in the past, what kind of things keeps us busy, and so forth. In fact just about anything noteworthy on Fallout Studios, such as a certain person, a meme or in-joke, or anything else on Fallout Studios that is worth describing could have an article about it. ====Describing Fallout Studios hosted projects==== The wiki is also the primary place for in-depth information about the projects Fallout Studios hosts. Feel free to write about any aspect of a hosted project you think is worth noting, such as its history, creators, trivia, and other interesting information about it. However, keep in mind that normal articles are mostly written from an outsider point of view, and therefore some of the information in these articles might be somewhat inaccurate. Don't be angry if someone wrote incorrect information about your project, but simply log in and correct it yourself. ====Providing a place for projects to present information==== As not everyone is able to construct a huge site with lots of bells and whistles, and some people might like the flexibility of a wiki, we also allow project members to create separate manuals for their projects. A manual should preferably be used for describing the various details in a modification, but it could go into any amount of detail that is deemed necessary. Each project manual belongs to that project, and as such it enjoys a bit more freedom in its content than other articles on the wiki would. Manuals can cover a lot of details, like units, FAQs, installation instructions, etc. but keep in mind their 'official' status. A project's manual is most likely endorsed or even written by project's leaders and team themselves, so do not write what they would not officially support. Also keep in mind that each manual might have its own separate style guidelines, so be sure to take note of those any rules that are displayed or linked to on the manual's front page or its talk page, before editing anything. ====Providing information about modding and game development related topics and sites==== As a modding and game development community, we aren't alone of course. There are lots of other sites out there that not only have lots of information, but also have large and thriving communities behind them. This wiki also seeks to provide some information about them, such as who runs them, some history and such. And of course game modders and developers alike have certain tips, tools and tricks that they use frequently. So any article that provides some insight into a certain aspect of these activities will be welcome. The more information we collect, the more useful the wiki becomes in general, and perhaps sometime in the future the wiki could even be a major resource in its own right. ====Briefly describing the games Fallout Studios plays==== You can't have a modification without a game to modify in the first place, so of course these games play a prominent role in their own right. The wiki tries to provide some information about the games in general, their main aspects, and perhaps go into detail on some of their more important features. I mention 'briefly' here because we have many writers here who are eager to provide elaborate and intricate details, strategies and other in-depth information about the games they play. However, keep in mind that most games come with manuals which already describe those games in great detail, and we're not trying to 'replace the manual', nor are we attempting to write a strategy guide. Let's keep it simple. ==What this wiki is not== ====This is not Wikipedia==== Wikipedia is a great place for just about any kind of information, but that's not what we're trying to do. Therefore, do not create wikilinks to articles that are unlikely to ever be created, or to articles that do not fit here. If a term still needs clarification, use a Wikipedia link: <tt><nowiki>[[Wikipedia:Some article|Some name]]</nowiki></tt>. ====This is not a repository for information about countries, politics, wars or military hardware==== While yes, most of our members play war games involving lots of different kinds of weapons and different countries, that doesn't mean that it's not still just a game. We are not trying to create a wiki about weapons or the countries that use them, nor the politics that go on in the real world. If an article is created about a certain weapon or country, it should only be about that weapon or country's role within a certain game or modification, not reality. ====This is not a place for advertising or personal issues==== We offer this wiki as a place to share information with others in the hope that it will be useful to many people. But simply advertising yourself or your project is out of the question. This is also not a place to take out your issues or frustrations with other people, in the form of slandering them in an article about them or in any other way. If we receive complaints that you are purposefully writing lies or defamatory remarks about anything, we will take action. Stick to the facts. ====This is not a site for personal profiles==== Each person has the ability to create his or her own user page, in the form of [[User:Somename]]. However this page is only to be used for things related to your role on this wiki and Fallout Studios in general. It is not intended to be a full-fledged profile, blog, personal website or any other kind of personalised site. There are plenty of other places where you can create such sites, this is not one of them. [[Category:FSDB Help|About]] [[Category: FSDB Policy|{{PAGENAME}}]]
